In Australia, a new chapter in the long history of anti-Semitic bloodshed and injustice has been written: the Catholic Church, the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, the Nazis (later protected by Juan Domingo Peron in Argentina, the Office of Strategic Services (OSS) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) in the United States and, of course, by Joseph Stalin in the Soviet Union) to name a few.
We have witnessed tragic contemporary episodes involving the Islamic State, Hezbollah, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, mostly supported by supposedly “progressive left-wing groups” driven and financed by the misogynistic and recalcitrant governments of Iran and even – in an ambivalent twist – the money of Qatar. We don't know what flag the actors waved at Bondi Beach, but surely traces of these latter countries can be found behind them.
On social media (even the most serious ones), they are constantly infiltrating with fake or even real profiles (surely appropriately financed with Iranian crypto payments), trying stupidly and shamelessly to associate any negative event that occurs worldwide, with the interests of Israel or the Jews.
Of course, the technique is not new at all: the original Vatican Council accusing the Jews of “deicide” in order to distance the first official Roman Church from its real guilt, a Catalan bishop saying that the Bubonic Plague was the fault of the Jews since they poisoned the water wells: although the responsible party was the characteristic filth of that society which attracted the bite of fleas from rats (Jews and Muslims of that time were religiously obliged to keep themselves clean permanently and therefore attracted less of the transmitting fleas).
Adolph Hitler and Joseph Goebbels' lies need no further mention, and we mustn't forget the local brainwashing of Argentine military personnel through the rewriting of the gaucho model of "protocols" in the ludicrous pamphlet of the "Plan Andinia."
Just as they did after the attacks on the Israeli Embassy and the AMIA Jewish community centre in Buenos Aires, the Iranian instigators, organisers and financiers disguise themselves behind a "message of a religion of peace," even though they are constantly inciting attacks, primarily against civilians, women, and children.
This should not be surprising; Iranians, like Afghans, have real contempt for their own women, especially when they "dare" to demonstrate intelligence, critical thinking and self-determination.
What could be “better” if the victims are elderly people, women and children, mostly Christian or Jewish, like the 192 people on suburban trains in Madrid (2004), 52 dead and 700 injured in London (2005), 130 dead and more than 350 injured in Paris (2015), Brussels (2016), attacks in Nice (2016) killing 86 people and injuring more than 400, Manchester (2017) killing 22 people, including seven children, and injuring 100, the Ramblas of Barcelona (2017), 16 dead and 140 injured.
According to the 2024 EU Terrorism Situation and Trends Report, 120 terrorist attacks were recorded in the EU in 2023, including 98 successful attacks, nine failed attempts, and 13 foiled plots. This represents a significant increase compared to the 28 attacks in 2022 and the 18 in 2021. The attacks occurred in seven EU countries: France (80 attacks), Italy (30 attacks), Germany (three attacks), Spain (three attacks), Belgium (two attacks), Greece (one attack), and Luxembourg (one attack).
The deadly Hamas and Jihad Palestinian’s attack on collective farms near Gaza on October 7, 2023, killed at least 1,219 people: 810 civilians (including 38 children and 71 foreigners) and at least 379 members of the security forces. A total of 364 civilians were killed while attending the Nova for Peace music festival and many more victims were kidnapped, wounded and raped.
The likely explanation of the “Ayatollahs of hate,” those experts in Islamic law who act as representatives of the Hidden Imam (a central concept in Twelver Shi'ism), surely rests on a convenient reinterpretation of Surah 3:54 (Al-Imran): “And the disbelievers conspired, and Allah conspired. And Allah is the best of conspirators… they conspired, and Allah conspired (against them): and Allah is the best of conspirators.” (They often add parenthetical phrases not found in ancient texts, particularly citing the Jews.)
I do not believe it is important to interpret the religious justification (I only mention it); what is evident are the deceptions: while peace and human coexistence are preached, massacres of civilians, women, and children are planned and carried out.
The tragedy of this attack will surely trigger a crisis in Australian society, with authorities still unconvinced of the direct and funded correlation between "civil protest" actions and bloody terrorist acts like this one.
In any case, as the title of this column, which I regretfully feel compelled to write, indicates the most important message for humanity is that of Ahmed al Ahmed, a Muslim Australian fruit vendor and hero who tackled a terrorist and disarmed him to stop him from killing more civilians.
He had no obligation to risk his life as he did; he wasn't a police officer or a civil servant. He was simply a "true believer" in the human values of life, regardless of colour, sex, or religion.
Although a majority intentionally ignores it, thousands of "non-Jews" (Sunni Muslims, Druze, Christian Circassians and others) serve in the Israel Defence Forces or work tirelessly in Israeli hospitals as doctors and nurses, fighting for what truly matters: the lives of all human beings without distinction – something these others blatantly disregard.
