A donation authorised by Presidential Chief-of-Staff Karina Milei has connected a political training school launched by Sebastián Pareja, the La Libertad Avanza factotum in Buenos Aires Province, with a foundation headed by a controversial businessman indicted in the megacase known as the "Customs Mafia."
An investigation by Perfil journalist Giselle Leclercq has revealed that the Fundación Darío Donolo registered in August 2024 the domain of the website for EFDAP (Escuela de Formación, Debate y Análisis Político), Pareja’s training-ground for La Libertad Avanza candidates.
Six months later last February the same foundation was benefitted by Karina Milei with a donation of merchandise previously confiscated by the Customs.
The president of the foundation, Darío Antonio Donolo, is one of the 97 persons indicted in the case of the so-called "Customs Mafia," which was sent to trial in May 2024.
Donolo was indicted for "illicit association and aggravated contraband" and is considered by the investigators to be a "key player" within the crime organisation, even being described in the file as "the shadow" of the late ringleader.
The donation, officially signed by the President’s sister in the Official Gazette last February 17, consisted of 26,243 items of primary necessities and garments, according to the information obtained by the journalist via a request for access to public information.
The journalistic investigation highlights that the motive for the link between the training school of a key ruling party leader and the foundation of a businessman indicted for massive contraband continues to be a mystery.
