Former president Cristina Fernández de Kirchner will return to the country from Cuba from Friday, ahead of a scheduled event in La Plata the following day.
The Unidad Ciudadana senator for Buenos Aires Province will hold an event at a 700-capacity auditorium at the the Faculty of Journalism at the National University of La Plata at 4pm local time Saturday.
The former president will present her best-selling book Sinceramente ("Sincerely"), with Fernández de Kirchner accompanied by mayoral candidate Florencia Saintout. A number of human rights leaders and members of academic circles are also expected to attend.
The vice-presidential hopeful – who is the running-mate to Frente de Todos frontrunner Alberto Fernández – has generally avoided campaign events in the run-up to October's election, instead preferring to detail her political views at a series of book presentations.
This will be her first high-profile public appearance since August 7, when she appeared with Alberto Fernández at a pre-PASO campaign event in Rosario.
Fernández de Kirchner is at present in Havana, visiting her daughter Florencia Kirchner, who was granted permission from the courts to stay on the island to undergo medical treatment. The former president, who faces corruption allegations in the courts against her and is in the dock for two trials, travelled to the island on August 22.
The former president is expected to announce book presentation events in the coming weeks in Salta, Misiones, Entre Ríos and Neuquén.
