Covid-stricken Susana Giménez's health improving, says TV star's aide

Legendary television personality Susana Giménez, 77, hospitalised in Uruguay with Covid-19 since last Thursday, is on the mend, her personal secretary has confirmed.

Legendary television personality Susana Giménez, 77, hospitalised in Uruguay with Covid-19 since last Thursday, is on the mend, her personal secretary confirmed on Tuesday.

"Susana’s parameters are very good with the oxygen saturation in her bloodstream up to 99 percent," Dolores Mayol told the AFP news agency via Whatsapp.

"She’s having a bit of trouble resting well because her face-mask is bothering her but her evolution is positive," added the assistant, the only person authorised to issue medical bulletins regarding the television star on the express orders of Giménez.

Entering Sanatorio Cantegril hospital in the resort of Punta del Este (where the veteran TV star resides) on June 10, the Argentine icon was transferred last Saturday to an intermediate care ward due to the low level of oxygen saturation in her bloodstream, although her doctors clarified that her condition was not serious.

The first symptoms of Covid-19 came a few hours after the celebrity received her second Pfizer jab on June 3 at a Maldonado vaccination centre so that it is thought that she was already infected when inoculated.

Her daughter Mercedes Sarrabayrouse, who lives with her in Punta del Este, has also contracted the virus.

In May last year at an early stage of the pandemic Giménez decided to move to Uruguay to spend quarantine in her famous Punta del Este mansion La Mary.

The charismatic TV hostess, film actress and impresario is famous throughout Latin America for her television series beginning in 1987, which turned her into one of Argentina’s most important and beloved celebrities.
