Former Jujuy governor faces imminent arrest on corruption charges

Police also arrested Claudia Trenque. Trenque is the former accountant of Tupac Amaru, a controversial social and political organisation led by Milagros Sala, who is currently behind bars on charges relating to the same case.

Former Jujuy governor Eduardo Fellner faces imminent arrest on corruption charges involving the alleged syphoning of public works funds.

The case involves money assigned to the construction of public houses in the northern province, which is one of Argentina’s poorest.

Police visited Fellner’s home on Wednesday evening but the former ally of Cristina Fernández de Kichner could not be located, local media reported.

The arrest warrants handed down yesterday extend to Luis Cosentini, Jujuy’s former Land and Housing minister; Lucio Abregú, former director of the Housing and Urbanisation Institute; and Héctor Carrizo and José Mercado, former officials at the Provincial Works Unit.

Claudia Trenque was also arrested. Trenque is an accountant for Tupac Amaru, a controversial social and political organisation led by Milagros Sala, who is currently behind bars for charges relating to the same case.
