Argentines relive Qatar 2022 World Cup win in theatres with new films
As the nation nears the first anniversary of last year's Qatar 2022 World Cup win, two new two documentaries released this week – 'Elijo Creer' and 'Muchachos' – are bringing back the memories.
This Thursday marked the premiere of two commemorative films marking Argentina's Qatar 2022 World Cup win.
Argentines across the nation. Hitting theatres just days before the one-year-anniversary of the historical third world title win in Qatar, both Elijo Creer and Muchachos, la pelicula de la gente aim to relive the joy-filled final of Argentina’s dreams.
Directors of Elijo Creer, Gonzalo Arias and Martín Méndez, recount the Seleccion’s experience leading up, during, and after the 22nd mundial. Branded as the official movie of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), the 80-minute documentary is narrated by film icon Ricardo Darín.
“At first I thought about it a little, though it was difficult to say no,” Darín recalled to Teleshow. “I explained [to the team] what I thought would be some inconveniences, I told them that I was going on tour, but they were great: they told me that they wanted it to be me, that they were going to find a way, that they would go wherever I was and that’s when we got to work.”
"It is an opportunity to emotionally relive the story of a team of people, of titans, of warriors, of guys who did not let their guard down," he told Infobae.
Elijo Creer is produced by GM Comunicación, Tronito Productora, Grupo Octubre and Film Suez.
Produced by Pampa Films, the 100-minute Muchachos, la pelicula de la gente is based on a story by prolific writer Hernán Casciari.
Narrated by beloved Argentine actor and comedian Guillermo Francella, Muchachos, la pelicula de la gente is, contrastingly, “protagonised by the people.” Highlighting the millions of Argentines that lived last year’s World Cup through their screens or in Qatar, director Jesus Braceras’ film focuses on the fans and their passion for the Albiceleste.
Both documentaries can be watched at theatres across the nation from Thursday, December 7.
