Hours before Argentina take on Spain in the 2026 World Cup final, captain Lionel Messi said on Saturday that the Albiceleste had "already written a story" that "no-one will ever be able to erase."
Argentina will defend the title they won four years ago in Qatar when they face Spain on Sunday in East Rutherford, just outside New York.
La Roja are chasing their second World Cup crown after lifting the trophy in South Africa in 2010.
Lionel Scaloni's side reached a second consecutive World Cup final after producing a series of dramatic comebacks or late victories in every knockout-round match.
"Whatever happens tomorrow, this group has already written a story that we will never forget and that no one will ever be able to erase," the 39-year-old wrote on his Instagram account.
Messi, who has produced a series of outstanding performances at what he has said will be his sixth and final World Cup, accompanied the message with a photograph of Argentina's squad during the 2026 tournament in North America.
"The best part of all these years was never just the trophies, but everything along the way. Sharing each day with this group, competing together, picking ourselves up in difficult moments and enjoying every step," he wrote.
"Thank you to every one of my teammates, the coaching staff and everyone who works every day to ensure this national team remains a family," he added.
"Whatever happens tomorrow, this group has already written a story that we will never forget and that no-one will be able to erase. VAMOS ARGENTINA!"
The reigning world champions are aiming to win a fifth title under Scaloni, who has been in charge of the Albiceleste since 2018. During his tenure, Argentina have not lost a final.
They have already won the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the 2021 Copa América in Brazil, the 2024 Copa América in the United States and the 2022 Finalissima.
