Elon Musk says his firms are 'actively' looking to invest in Milei’s Argentina

SpaceX and Tesla boss posts on social media that his companies are “actively looking for ways to invest in and support Argentina,” though there’s no sign of an announcement anytime soon.

Billionaire businessman Elon Musk has called on his companies to invest in Argentina and back President Javier Milei.

Musk, 53, met with Milei, also 53, in New York on Monday after the head of state visited the New York Stock Exchange for talks.

Argentina’s President is in the Big Apple to attend the United Nations General Assembly, which he will address on Tuesday.

It was the third time the duo have sat down with their respective teams for talks following Milei’s inauguration last December.

Both have flattered the other on social media several times over the last few months in what appears to be something of a mutual appreciation society.

However, Musk’s companies have yet to announce any new investment or projects in Argentina.

Following their meeting, Musk once again voiced his backing for Argentina’s self-confessed “anarcho-capitalist” leader on the X social network he owns.

“My companies are actively looking for ways to invest in and support Argentina,” wrote the Tesla and SpaceX boss in a post.

After Monday’s meeting, Milei’s top spokesman said that the economist and the entrepreneur had discussed Argentina’s “return to normality.”

“Great meeting with Elon Musk: they talked about the deregulation process that is being carried out, all the details of the RIGI [large investment incentives scheme], the implications of the ‘Ley de Bases’ [reform package] and the path that Argentina is taking in its return to normality,” said Presidential Spokesperson Manuel Adorni in a social media post.

A photo released after the meet shows Milei, Musk, and several other officials in a “thumbs up” pose.
