Tango BA Festival and 2025 Tango World Cup kicks off in Argentina

Event will run over the next two weeks with over 500 activities planned and more than 2,000 artists and 50 venues participating all over the City.

A new edition of the Tango BA Festival and the 2025 Tango World Cup, the biggest tango gathering in the world, is underway.

This year's edition is organised by the Culture Ministry of Buenos Aires City with Gustavo Mozzi serving as art director. The event will last two weeks and may be enjoyed at 50 venues across the capital.

Running until Tuesday September 2, the tango festivities in Buenos Aires expands to a festival with concerts, exhibits, dance classes, milonga dances, projections, displays and a dance competition with a record-breaking number of participants.

The programme will also feature renowned artists such as: Néstor Marconi, Lito Vitale and Juan Carlos Baglietto, Franco Luciani, Noelia Sinkunas, Víctor Lavallén, Melingo, Renato Venturini, Jairo, Lidia Borda, Rodolfo Mederos, Piraña, Milena Plebs, Adriana Varela, the City Tango Orchestra, Tata Cedrón, El Arranque, Guillermo Fernández, Leo Maslíah, Eduardo Arquimbau, Hugo Rivas, Minino Garay, Natalia Hills, Ariel Ardit and Vanina Bilous, among others.

The festival began with a Wednesday kick-off event at 8pm at Usina del Arte, with a special production which brought together the Mayor Sextet, Raúl Lavié, the Pichuco Typical Orchestra, Miguel Ángel Zotto, Sandra Mihanovich and José 'Pepe' Colángelo – artists who will stage their own events during the festival. 

The Tango BA Festival and 2025 Tango World Cup started with a grand opening, attended by Buenos Aires City Mayor Jorge Macri and City Hall's Culture Minister Gabriela Ricardes, who said they were celebrating “a heritage with both a present and a future.”
