University dean to take seat on Magistrates Council

Diego Molea, the current dean of the National University of Lomas de Zamora (UNLZ), will replace outgoing member Jorge Candis. In party-political terms, the appointment means that a Kirchnerite, Candis, will be replaced by a Peronist, Molea.

The academic sector, represented by the deans of Argentina’s public universities, has appointed a new member to Argentina's 13-member Magistrates Council.

Diego Molea, the current dean of the National University of Lomas de Zamora (UNLZ), will replace outgoing member Jorge Candis. In party-political terms, the appointment means that a Kirchnerite, Candis, will be replaced by a Peronist, Molea.

Molea has led UNLZ since 2012. He is also an associate justice for Buenos Aires province’s Supreme Court and the director of the Judicial Studies Centre at UNLZ’s Law Faculty.

The academic sector agreed on Candis’ appointmenet following a meeting held in Jujuy province where it also determined that Hugo Juri, a Radical from the University of Córdoba, will take over the presidency of the National Inter-University Council (CIN).
