Reports: Government, opposition close agreement to delay PASOs

Argentina’s government and the opposition have sealed an agreement to postpone the PASO primaries by a month.

Argentina’s government and the opposition have sealed an agreement to postpone the PASO primaries by a month, local media outlets are reporting.

At press time, articles appeared in multiple local outlets saying that a deal to delay the PASOs by a month until September – and consequently push back the October midterms to November – had been agreed, though final details regarding a bill for Congress were still being debated.

The agreement was reached at a meeting at the Interior Ministry, attended by Interior Minister Eduardo ‘Wade’ de Pedro, Lower House Speaker Sergio Massa and opposition leaders, including PRO’s Cristian Ritondo, UCR’s Mario Negri and the Civic Coalition’s Juan Manuel López.
