Britain’s involvement in the international search and rescue mission for the missing ARA San Juan submarine included the arrival of the Royal Air Force to Argentine sovereign territory for the first time since the Malvinas (Falklands) War.
On Wednesday, an RAF Voyager landed in Comodoro Rivadavia, Chubut, carrying three tonnes of equipment including 12 emergency capsules for extreme depths.
Days before, a Hercules C-130, based in the islands, joined the mission, as did the HMS Protector, an ice patrol ship, and the HMS Clyde, an offshore patrol vessel.
