Javier Milei will return to the United States this week to attend his a global summit in Miami, joining a guestlist that includes national football team captain Lionel Messi and US President Donald Trump.
This will be the 14th visit to the US for the President since he took office in December 2023. He is due to depart Buenos Aires on Wednesday (November 5) after swearing in Manuel Adorni as his new Cabinet chief at the Casa Rosada, an activity that is scheduled for midday.
Milei is just one of a number of high-profile figures expected to attend the America Business Forum at the Kaseya Center in Miami, which runs November 5 and 6. Leading figures from the worlds of politics, business, sport and culture are on the guestlist, including Trump, Messi, Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal, JPMorgan & Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, FIFA President Gianni Infantino, former CEO of Google Eric Schmidt and opposition Venezuela leader María Corina Machado.
Milei is due to appear at the event at 3.45pm local time (1.45pm Buenos Aires) on the second day of the event. He will be introduced publicly by Bret Baier, a Fox News presenter and associate of Trump, and may grant an interview.
According to government sources, Milei will be accompanied on his trip by Presidential Chief-of-Staff Karina Milei and newly appointed Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno.
No meeting has been agreed with Trump to date. The duo are meant to address the summit on different days. Diplomatic sources have indicated that “the possibility remains open”, depending on Trump’s availability and last-minute arrangements.
The trip reinforces the political and strategic alliance between Milei and Trump at a time of global commercial tensions and geopolitical conflict. In recent months, bilateral coordination has included financial assistance to stabilise Argentina’s currency and markets and negotiations for a commerce and tariff-free trade agreement, whose formal announcement remains pending.
After his stay in Miami, Milei is expected to return to Buenos Aires before travelling to Bolivia to attend the inauguration of president-elect Rodrigo Paz.
