Copa América, Colapinto, INADI… Argentina’s most googled topics in 2024
Copa América, INADI, Ley de Bases, Franco Colapinto, and ‘Gran Hermano’… the world’s leading search engine has revealed the topics that captured the attention of Argentines this year.
The most searched-for items on Google in 2024 in Argentina have been unveiled.
Among the subjects seizing the attention of Argentines over the past year were the Copa América, the INADI anti-discrimination watchdog, President Javier Milei’s ‘Ley de Bases’ reform package, F1 rookie Franco Colapinto, and the reality TV show Gran Hermano.
Some of the most popular searches include the Copa América and the Euros football tournaments, late former One Direction singer Liam Payne, the film Inside Out 2, and the Voucher Educativo programme.
In terms of individuals, notable names this year included the aforementioned Liam Payne, Formula 1 driver Franco Colapinto, Dragon Ball Z creator Akira Toriyama, late actor Claudio Rissi, and the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, who revealed she had been diagnosed with cancer.
Major events included the Copa América, the Euros, elections in Venezuela, the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and a nationwide bus strike.
A new category was introduced this year: Artificial Intelligence. Users searched for how to use AI to create images, design logos, humanise texts, produce videos, and solve mathematical problems.
The most common questions searched were: “What time does the Argentina national team play?”, “What is INADI?”, “What is the Ley Bases?”, and “What time does Colapinto race?”.
Other frequently asked questions included: “How do I top up my SUBE card?”, “How do I check if I have a power subsidy?”, “How is monkeypox transmitted?”, “How did Argentina do?”, and, once again, “How did Franco Colapinto do today?”.
When it comes to films, highlights included Inside Out 2, La sociedad de la nieve, Deadpool & Wolverine and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
For series and TV programmes, searches focused on Gran Hermano, Cris Miró, Nahir Galarza, Baby Reindeer, and Susana Giménez.
