The Health Ministry has confirmed that an additional 88 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded in the country on Tuesday, pushing the total number of infected past the 1,000 barrier.
In total, 1,054 people have been infected with the novel coronavirus in Argentina to date.
According to the Ministry's daily update, 50.2 percent of those cases are "imported" (i.e. related to an individual travelling abroad and returning to Argentina with the infection), with 28 percent a result of a patient coming into close contact with an individual confirmed as having the novel coronavirus. The remainder of cases remain under investigation.
Three fatalities were also registered on Tuesday: a 63-year-old female resident in Chaco Province; a 52-year-old female paediatrician from La Rioja Province; and a 89-year-old woman from Córdoba.
Of the total number of new infections confirmed this Tuesday, 19 are from Buenos Aires City, 17 from Buenos Aires Province, 22 from Santa Fe Province, 3 from Chaco Province, 14 from Córdoba Province, 7 from Tierra del Fuego Province, 2 from Mendoza Province, 1 from Tucumán Province, 1 from Río Negro and 1 from Corrientes. Misiones also reported a new case, lifting its total to 15.
