Milei to sing at election campaign show at Movistar Arena
President will attempt to reignite stuttering midterms campaign with a book launch/gig/political rally at an arena in Buenos Aires.
President Javier Milei will attempt to reignite his party’s stuttering midterm election campaign on Monday as he presents his latest book with a rally at an arena in Buenos Aires.
Milei, 54, will unveil his latest contribution to economic literature at the 15,000 capacity Movistar Arena in Villa Crespo. Free tickets will be issued today, the day of the event, on a first come first serve basis.
Though Milei is expected to deliver a political lecture as part of the event, the main focus will likely be on his second musical performance as head of state.
The La Libertad Avanza will reportedly be backed by “the Forces of Heaven” – a band made up of lawmakers, government officials and friends – for a few numbers, before changing his clothes and addressing the crowd to talk about his book.
Milei's 573-page book, La construcción del milagro (“The Construction of the Miracle”), is a compilation of speeches and publications from last year, featuring interview snippets and commentaries. It is being released by the Hojas del Sur publishing house.
According to reports, Monday’s “gig” will kick off at 6pm with a short concert. Milei will sing a brief setlist of songs along with his band, made up of national deputy Alberto ‘Bertie’ Benegas Lynch on drums and his brother Joaquín Lynch on lead guitar, with Milei’s biographer Marcelo Duclós on bass and lawmaker Lilia Lemoine on vocals.
Also expected to feature in the show is political commentator Agustín Laje, while Presidential Spokesperson Manuel Adorni will act as master of ceremonies.
In less than three weeks, Argentines will head to the polls for legislative elections on October 26, a crucial test for President Milei as he seeks to consolidate support for his sweeping economic and institutional reforms.
The government is under growing pressure amid economic stagnation and rising social discontent, while recent scandals – including the resignation of La Libertad Avanza lawmaker José Luis Espert over alleged links to detained businessman and suspected drug-trafficker Federico “Fred” Machado – have dented the ruling coalition’s image.
