Macri welcomes Norwegian royal couple

The Government House meeting marks the first official visit by a Norwegian monarch to Argentina in half a century.

President Mauricio Macri today met with King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway. 

The Government House meeting marks the first official visit by a Norwegian monarch to Argentina in half a century.

Macri was joined by his wife, businesswoman Juliana Awada.

The royal couple are joined on their trip by 60 Norwegian business leaders. Their visit is aimed at “deepening commercial and political relations”, according to Norwegian government organisers.

Later Tuesday, Norwegian Foreign Minister Ine Eriksen Søreide and her Argentine counterpart Jorge Faurie will deliver a press conference.
